Health and Safety
Why Is It Important?
Our No Harm goal prioritises preventing serious injuries and fatalities through strong leadership, effective risk control and a learning culture. We aim to build a proactive safety culture where people are empowered to speak up, lead by example and continually improve, ensuring the protection of employees, contractors, customers and the communities in which we operate.
Our Approach
01 Prioritise Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention as the core of our No Harm vision.
02 Strengthen leadership to drive visible safety engagement and influence safe behaviours.
03 Embed strong fundamentals through clear standards, critical controls and consistent execution. Streamline systems to simplify processes and boost frontline efficiency.
04 Foster a learning culture through proactive reporting, training, Lessons Learned reviews and continual improvement.
Performance Data
Group's Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate (TRIFR) has gradually decreased over the past three financial years. However, total recordable injuries was higher in FY2024 due to the inclusion of data from the newly acquired UMW division from December 2023 onwards.
The Group's Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) has remained relatively stable over the past three financial years. However, total lost time injuries were higher in FY2024 due to the inclusion of data from the newly acquired UMW division from December 2023 onwards.
Regrettably, this year, we lost two valued members of Sime due to an incident. Our crisis management response prompted an immediate and systematic review of critical risks across all business units, particularly those operating in hazardous environments. This led to further enhancements of our comprehensive guidelines on risk management practices across the organisation.
